Here at Jedi Customs we are passionate about campervan conversions. If you just need us to work on a small aspect of your build that you cannot do yourself, or if you want us to take over your project completely, we can accommodate you.
We can help out at all stages of the campervan conversion build process, these are summaries from our blog pages:
Planning – consultation:
Even if you want to do all the work yourself, we can offer a consultancy service. For a modest fee you can gain access to our vast knowledge base, enabling you to “build it once and built it right”. Our campervan conversion consultancy service means you will save time on your build, and save a load of money by not buying unsuitable or sub-standard materials.
We see loads of ‘camper conversions’ for sale on ebay, that have clearly been built by people with some DIY skills and the best intentions, but no real knowledge. Most of them are not cost effective to put right and many will require a certified GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) suspension upgrade to make them road legal.
Window installation:
We can help you negotiate the minefield that is window installation. Most people are understandably quite reluctant to take an angle grinder or jigsaw to their expensive new van. Rest assured that we can get the job done quickly, cleanly and efficiently. Its best to speak to us first before buying any windows, as we may be able to advise you on suitable suppliers.
We are able to fit bonded glass windows (side and rear), Roof vents (with or without fans), kitchen vents and caravan-type windows.
Electrical and plumbing:
Electrical and plumbing systems (both gas and water) can be installed by us. Its important to get this right as it can lead to real problems later on. Its essential you have a very clear plan of your internal layout before going ahead with any electrical/plumbing work. The following are some things to think about:
Water:
Where is your reservoir tank? Is the weight going to be balanced? Where do you need taps? Sink and/or shower location? Where can the pipes run? Insulated/winterised or not? How/where to fill the water tank? Fill level indicator? Hot and cold or just cold water?
A simple solution would be a jerry can with a tap, but the more luxury/ease of use you want, the more complex and costly it is going to be.
Electrical:
How much power do you need? Candles and torches will suffice (I have used them happily for many nights sleeping out in tents!), but again – if you want a luxury campervan you will need to spend time and money. Do you need a TV, fridge, interior/exterior lighting, gaming console, tablet and laptops? Will you be on electrical hook-up or will you be wild camping and relying on leisure batteries and solar panels.
The answers to these questions will ultimately determine the complexity and cost of your electrical system.
Pop-up roof installation:
An essential addition if you need to maximise internal space or increase your sleeping capacity to 4 berth. We are able to fit a pop-top roof to most van conversions, or even we can fit roof top tents, plus give advice on the type of tent that will best suit your needs and budget.
Insulation, ply-lining and carpeting
Many customers just require a basic insulation, ply-lining and carpeting service from us, then they go on to finish their build themselves. Often, a van will have multiple uses – a workhorse during the week, a camper for the weekend. Ask us about our modular accessories – removable seating and cabinetry using quick-release components secured in aluminium ‘airline track’.
Cabinets & seating
Made from lightweight plywood, our bespoke cabinetry is available in a range of styles and finishes. We can supply and fit swivel seats, rock and roll beds and can even arrange an upholsterer to re-cover the seats to match your colour scheme.
Day van or full vanlife style long term tourer van
Weekender or full long term living, we have got you covered. Our campervan conversions can meet whatever need you have.
Graphics and final detailing
We have an on site powder coating and spray shop for final detailing works and refurbishment prior to converting to a campervan. We have access to graphic detailing services such as de-chroming and window tinting.
You will need graphics if you want your van to be reclassified as a motorhome by the DVLA. We have an arrangement with Street Race Graphics Ltd, they have hundreds of amazing sticker designs to suit all of the major vans that are commonly used for campervan conversions:
Large vans: Ducato/Boxer/Expert, Iveco Daily, VW Crafter/Mercedes Sprinter, Transit (MK7 and MK8), Renault Master/Vauxhall Movano.
Medium/small vans: VW Transporter (T4/T5/T6), Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro/Renault Trafic.
